GWEN MARTIN was born in Newark, NJ and moved to VA at the age of three. She was raised by a divorced mother who had seven other children. Therefore the family had to solely depend upon assistance from social services in order to survive. As Gwen grew up, there were many adversaries she had to overcome while trying to find her way in society. However, she let nothing stop her! In 1999, Gwen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a Psychology minor.

As a single/divorced mother, she worked during the day and went to school in the evenings and nights, all while raising her children. She was adamant about furthering her education and very excited about being a first generation student. Being successful often meant taking her young daughters with her to class due to a lack of childcare. Later in 2008, Gwen went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in Counseling & Human Development. As a result, this has afforded her endless opportunities to work in human services, a field in which she is very passionate about due to her mission of empowering women.

Although Gwen was raised in church and attended all her life, she felt compelled to attend Word of Life Bible School in Wirtz, VA to learn even more. While attending, she connected with three other female students who were like-minded, and who also wanted to empower women. So through this common interest, Prepared Pearls Ministries was birthed.

DR. MELINDA C. HILL PCC is an Executive Director with the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team, an ICF Professional Certified Coach, and a speaker and leadership strategist. She holds a doctorate in Higher Education and Organizational Change and a master’s degree in Counseling.

Through her coaching and consulting work, Dr. Hill helps leaders strengthen organizational culture, align people around shared goals, and develop practical strategies for growth. She supports individuals and organizations in clarifying their purpose, strengthening relationships, and turning vision into meaningful action.

Rooted in faith, her work reflects a deep commitment to helping women recognize their worth, reclaim their voice, and deepen their relationship with God. Through coaching, speaking, and practical tools for emotional well-being and communication, she encourages women to grow with intention and live out their God-given purpose.

DONNA ST.CLAIR was born and raised in Roanoke, VA. She & her sister were raised by their maternal grandmother & her sister after the passing of their mother at a very young age.

Although she doesn't have any biological children of her own, she has had the opportunity to be a mother figure to many. She believes that motherhood extends beyond biology; it is expressed through the love she gives.

She is a retired law enforcement professional whose 30 years of dedicated service with the Roanoke City Sheriff's Office reflect her deep commitment to serving others. She has learned the importance of compassion, treating every person with dignity, kindness, and respect.

She is also a survivor of domestic violence. Through her personal journey, she has faced challenges that have taught her profound lessons about strength, perseverance, healing, and faith.

Her heart's desire is to bring comfort to the hurting, encouragement to the weary, hope to the discouraged, and love to those who need it most. She believes one of her greatest gifts is the gift of a hug which helps remind others they are loved, valued, and never alone. She is a woman of faith, a survivor by God's grace, a servant at heart, and a mother to many through love.

VERONICA COOK PERRYBorn and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, Veronica is a devoted wife, loving mother of four, proud grandmother of two, and blessed bonus grandmother whose life is rooted in faith, family, perseverance, and service.

Veronica’s spiritual foundation was established at an early age at Garden of Prayer #7 under the leadership of Pastor Brown. Inspired by the unwavering faith, strength, and wisdom of her grandmother, mother, and aunts, she learned to trust God through every season of life. As a young single mother, Veronica leaned on that foundation to find strength, overcome challenges, and provide for her children with courage and determination.

Despite the demands of motherhood, Veronica remained committed to personal growth and perseverance. While raising her children as a single mother, she pursued her education and earned an associate degree. She later built a successful career in the insurance industry while giving back to her community through service on a booster board, decorating balloon arches and many other creative activities. Throughout her journey, she has remained a constant source of love, encouragement, and support for her children, proudly celebrating their accomplishments and supporting their athletic endeavors.

As the Young Women’s Coordinator, Veronica’s heart is especially drawn to encouraging and mentoring young women and mothers who may be navigating challenging seasons of life. Having experienced firsthand the power of faith, resilience, and encouragement, she desires to create a space where young women feel supported, valued, and empowered to recognize their God-given potential. Her approach to mentorship is grounded in patience, understanding, compassion, and the belief that no woman should have to face life’s challenges alone.

Veronica considers her family one of her greatest blessings and hopes to leave a lasting legacy of faith, love, and strength, especially for her daughter, who she hopes will always see through her example that faith and family are at the heart of a meaningful life.

Her message to every young woman is simple yet powerful: Hold your head high, give yourself grace, keep moving forward in faith, and never give up on the woman God created you to be. Veronica believes that with faith, love, kindness, and perseverance, even life’s most difficult seasons can become opportunities for growth, healing, and renewed purpose.

PATIENCE ROBINSONwas raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her and give her the best life possible. Watching her mother sacrifice, persevere, and lead with strength taught her the value of hard work, resilience, and unconditional love. Today, as a wife and mother of two, she carries those same lessons into her own family, striving every day to provide for her children and create a life filled with love, opportunity, and faith.

One of her greatest desires is to raise her children to be followers of Christ, to love others without conditions, and to always be proud of who they are and where they come from. She wants her daughter to grow up grounded in who she is and, more importantly, confident in her identity as a child of God. She hopes both of her children will look to her as an example of faith, kindness, strength, and compassion.

Beyond her role as a wife and mother, she has a heart for encouraging and empowering other young women to find their voices, embrace inclusivity, stand confidently in their faith, and be unafraid to lead others to Christ. She believes she can make a meaningful difference by living out our values, loving people well, and leading by example.

Patience's favorite scripture is Philippians 4:6-7

Which she describes as a reminder to bring everything to God in prayer and trust Him to provide peace beyond understanding. It is a reflection of the faith she strives to live by and the foundation she hopes to pass on to her children and share with the women she encounters along the way.
